Program Overview

The program "Att dokumentera pedagogisk skicklighet" (Documenting Teaching Expertise) is a course offered by Örebro University, designed for teachers who want to improve their ability to document their teaching expertise and merits.


Program Description

The course focuses on helping participants reflect on their teaching practices, develop a pedagogical approach, and create a pedagogical documentation that showcases their teaching expertise. The course is of particular interest to those who plan to apply for a position as a merited or excellent teacher.


Program Objectives

After completing the course, participants will be able to:


  • Describe their pedagogical approach and reflect on how it relates to the university's pedagogical foundation and vision for education
  • Show and explain how their pedagogical approach is implemented in teaching practice
  • Problematic and develop their teaching practice using research in higher education and subject didactics
  • Document their teaching expertise and highlight their teaching merits

Program Structure

The course consists of 80 hours of study, equivalent to two weeks of full-time study, and includes four course sessions (half-days). The course is taught in Swedish.


Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the course, participants must be permanently employed teachers at Örebro University and have completed the course "Högskolepedagogikens grunder" (Foundations of Teaching and Learning) or equivalent.


Tuition Fees

The cost of the course for employed teachers at Örebro University is 1000 SEK per week, including VAT (total 2000 SEK, including VAT). External participants cannot apply for this course.


Examination

The course is examined through a pedagogical documentation where participants describe their pedagogical approach, show how it is implemented in teaching practice, and problematize and develop their teaching practice using research in higher education and subject didactics. The course is graded as "Passed" or "Failed". If a participant fails, they have the right to retake the exam within two years.


Literature

The course literature includes "Pedagogisk portfölj: För karriär och utveckling" (Pedagogical Portfolio: For Career and Development) by Katarina Winka and Ĺsa Ryegĺrd, as well as additional literature selected in consultation with the teacher.


Certificate

After completing the course, participants receive a course certificate.
