The program in question is Pĺföljdsbestämning i straffrätt, avancerad nivĺ, which translates to "Sentencing in Criminal Law, Advanced Level." This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the criminal justice system, focusing on the principles and practices of sentencing.


Course Description

The course aims to give students a good orientation in the criminal policy considerations that underlie the structure of the criminal justice system, in-depth knowledge of the design of the Swedish sentencing system, and the application of rules for sentencing and penalty selection. Additionally, the course covers issues related to the treatment of special groups of offenders and the enforcement of penalties.


Level and Prerequisites

This is an advanced-level course, requiring students to have completed courses at the grundnivĺ (basic level) as prerequisites. Specifically, students need to have 165 higher education credits in legal science from the Law Program, including 10 credits in criminal law and 10 credits in procedural law, as well as Swedish 3/Svenska B.

The selection of students for this course is based on the number of higher education credits completed, with priority given to students who have completed the most credits by the last application date.
