PhD in One Health

Programme Overview

The PhD in One Health is a research-intensive doctoral programme that equips fellows to address health challenges at the human–animal–environment interface through interdisciplinary training and mentorship across the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research's (NMIMR) scientific units.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have:


  • A Master's degree (MPhil/MSc) in a relevant discipline, such as:

    • Human Medicine

Graduation Requirements

To graduate, a candidate must:


  • Complete required coursework (18–24 credits)
  • Present four (4) seminars
  • Pass a comprehensive examination
  • Conduct original research and submit a doctoral thesis
  • Successfully defend the thesis (oral examination)
  • Fulfil all School of Graduate Studies regulations
