Scholarships for Prospective Students

SWUFE has adhered to the fundamental educational objectives of establishing students' moral integrity and fostering talents who know China and have deep feelings about China.

Program Introduction

The Chinese Government Scholarship "High Level Postgraduate Program" supports outstanding young students from all over the world to study for postgraduate degrees (Master & Ph.D) in China. The program adopts the principle of "individual application, university recommendation, expert review, and merit-based admission" to select international students with excellent academic background, professional ability, and future development potential.

Application Period

The application period is from November 1st, 2025, to February 28th, 2026 (Beijing Time). Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

1. Be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport in accordance with the Nationality Law of The People's Republic of China.
2. Meet the requirements set by the Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of The PRC and other relevant regulations.
3. Be in good health and have good grades.
4. Abide by the laws and regulations of China as well as regulations of SWUFE.
5. Have the required education background:
   • Be a bachelor's degree holder when applying for a master's degree program.
   • Be a master's degree holder when applying for a doctoral degree program.
   • Applicants who will graduate in 2026 shall obtain a nationally recognized corresponding diploma before enrollment.
6. Meet the age limit:
   • Applying for a master's degree program: under the age of 35.
   • Applying for a doctoral degree program: under the age of 40.
7. Meet the requirements of language proficiency:
   • Chinese-taught program: pass HSK level 4 or above.
   • English-taught program: provide official certificate/report of English language proficiency (e.g., IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 85 and above).

Duration of Scholarship

Scholarship Coverage

The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, living allowance, and comprehensive medical insurance.

Application Procedures

To apply for the scholarship, applicants must:

1. Apply online in the CSC System and submit the online application.
2. Apply online in the SWUFE Application System and submit all required documents and the CSC Application Form.
3. Pay the application fee of 600 RMB.

Application Documents

Applicants must upload the following documents:

1. ID photo taken within 6 months.
2. Notarized highest educational degree or diploma certificate.
3. Academic transcripts (from undergraduate program onwards).
4. Recommendation letters from professors or associate professors.
5. Study plan (more than 1,000 words).
6. Valid language certificate.
7. First page of personal passport.
8. Physical Examination Record for Foreigner.
9. Non-Criminal Record.
10. Other certificates, awards, abstracts of published academic papers, etc. (if any).

Selection and Admission

The selection and admission process includes:

1. Preliminary review of all application materials.
2. Online test and interview for eligible applicants.
3. Pre-admission letter will be sent to the CSC nominated candidates by email.
4. The nominated candidates shall confirm the online application of the CSC Online Application System.
5. CSC will review qualifications and application documents of all nominated candidates and decide the final scholarship result.

Regulations

Applicants must guarantee that the application information and documents are correct, valid, and authentic. Applicants who violate any rule or cheat during the application process will be demanded accountability seriously. Awarded students shall participate in annual reassessment based on the requirements of CSC and SWUFE.
