Program Overview

UCL Summer School

The UCL Summer School gives students the chance to study in London for three or six weeks over the summer and gain credit towards their degree programme.

About UCL

Based in the heart of London, UCL is a world-leading university. The academic specialisms cover most subjects, from the arts and social sciences to health and physical sciences, and their innovative focus on interdisciplinary study to examine global issues sets them apart. The academic excellence and location in one of the world's most dynamic capital cities give students unrivalled personal, social, and academic benefits which will enhance any CV or résumé.

London's Global University

UCL has a global reach and a global vision. The UCL Summer School currently welcomes students from over 150 different countries, and recognises and celebrates the diversity and different viewpoints that the students bring. The academic staff, drawn from around 100 different countries, are similarly diverse.

Global Outlook, Global Issues

The modules on offer give a flavour of UCL's ethos and academic expertise. The aim is to make "global citizens" of all students, and students are invited to think about issues affecting the entire world. All UCL Summer School modules aim to incorporate the latest research in each subject area, and many also make use of London as a unique learning resource, taking the learning experience beyond the classroom through excursions and field trips.

About the UCL Summer School

The UCL Summer School is divided into two sessions, each spanning three weeks. Students can choose to attend for one or two sessions, and will study one module per session. Students will be taught by UCL academics in interactive groups, and many modules incorporate class visits and guest speakers to further enhance learning. As a UCL Summer School student, students will have full-time student status and a UCL ID card, which entitles them to full borrowing rights in all of the libraries. With 16 specialist libraries and five permanent collections on campus, and all of London's museums, galleries, and monuments within easy reach, students will have a wealth of resources to support their studies. While some personal study is necessary in order to succeed, evenings and weekends allow students to explore the city of London and further afield.
