Latin American Studies Certificate

The Latin American Studies Certificate requires thirteen credit hours or the equivalent in Spanish.


Program Requirements

To complete the certificate, students must select one of the following courses:


  • HIST 1051: Latin American Civilization
  • HIST 1052: Mexican Civilization
  • SPANISH 3211: Hispanic Culture And Civilization: Spanish America

Course Selection

Students must also select four courses from at least three of the following areas:

Independent Study Course

Students seeking the certificate must complete an independent study course in which a research paper will be written focusing upon some aspect of Latin American Studies. The topic should be approved in advance by International Studies and Programs. This course is worth 3 credit hours.
