Program Overview
Materials Science and Engineering Program
Introduction
The Materials Science and Engineering program at Xiangtan University is a first-tier national undergraduate program. It is affiliated with the Materials Science and Engineering discipline, which has a doctoral degree program, a national-level experimental teaching demonstration center, and a national-level teaching team. The program focuses on the design, preparation, performance, and service of structural and functional thin films and devices, with two main directions: microelectronic materials and devices, and materials measurement and control technology and equipment.
Objectives
The program aims to cultivate students with a strong foundation in science and engineering, as well as good ideological and moral qualities, and humanistic and scientific qualities. Students should have the ability to explore the composition, structure, and properties of materials, and to develop new materials and improve their performance.
Curriculum
The program includes courses in materials science, physics, chemistry, mathematics, and mechanics. Students will also participate in experiments, practical training, and innovative projects to develop their skills in materials design, preparation, and characterization.
Graduation Requirements
Students must complete 175 credits to graduate, including 151 required credits and 24 elective credits. They must also meet the requirements of the "Regulations on the Conferring of Bachelor's Degrees in the People's Republic of China" and the "Regulations on the Conferring of Bachelor's Degrees at Xiangtan University".
Faculty
The program has a team of experienced teachers, including national teaching masters, national-level specially appointed professors, and young scholars with doctoral degrees. The faculty has a strong research background and is committed to teaching and mentoring students.
Research Platforms
The program has access to several research platforms, including the Materials Science and Engineering Laboratory, the National Level Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, and the Doctoral Research Station.
Career Prospects
Graduates of the program can work in industries related to materials science and engineering, such as electronics, energy, and aerospace. They can also pursue further studies in master's or doctoral programs.
