Introduction to the Property Management Major
The Property Management program at Ball State University is designed for students interested in real estate, hands-on learning, and business. This bachelor's degree program provides practical applications of theory, a high degree of interaction with industry representatives, and a solid business education with a focus on a single industry.

The Property Management program allows students to gain practical experience in marketing and leasing investment properties, financial management or investment real estate, and real estate development, construction, and operation processes. The small program size ensures a close-knit community of educators, peers, and industry power-players.
Professional Credentials
Ball State's Property Management program provides students with the opportunity to earn the following designations at the student rate, enhancing their marketability after graduation:
- Certified Apartment Leasing Professional (CALP)
- Certified Apartment Manager (CAM)
Hands-on Experience
Students in the Property Management program gain hands-on experience through projects such as creating a resident handbook, developing a Facebook page as part of a marketing plan, and setting up and maintaining operations at Maplewood Guest House, a medical student community.
Major Requirements
As a Property Management major, students take courses in marketing, leasing, maintenance, management, accounting, real estate, and many others. Many courses provide hands-on learning experiences and opportunities to interact with apartment industry professionals.
Award-Winning Faculty
Faculty members have received the 2021 Housing Impact Award from the Housing Education and Research Association (HERA) for their award-winning housing initiative, which includes immersive learning activities at the Maplewood Guest House and the Village Promenade Learning Lab.
