The Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program at Southern Connecticut State University is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), the sole accrediting agency of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). The program received accreditation in September 1983 and is the oldest and longest-standing program among the five COAMFTE-accredited MFT programs in the State of Connecticut. Additionally, it is one of the oldest COAMFTE-accredited MFT programs in the world. COAMFTE accreditation signifies credibility, rigor, and quality within MFT training programs. As part of its accreditation, COAMFTE requires all accredited programs to post student achievement statistics, which can be found on the program's main landing page. ### Academic Requirements for the Marriage and Family Therapy Program. The MFT Program follows the academic requirement policy of the Graduate School.
