Program Overview
Introduction to the Laney Puente Program
The Laney Puente Program is a transfer preparation program designed to increase the number of educationally underserved students who transfer to four-year colleges and universities, earn degrees, and return to their communities. The program is offered as a partnership between the University of California and The California Community Colleges.
Program Offerings
The Laney College Puente Program offers students:
- An English 5 class with a Latinx and other multicultural-themed curriculum
- Counseling 57, Personal and Career Development
- Support to create and develop a personalized transfer plan with a Latinx Counselor
- Embedded tutor support in English class and additional free tutoring at the Latinx Cultural Center
- Campus Visits: Free trips to visit 4-year colleges and learn about their support services for Latinx students
- Mentors: Professionals who will support college and career success
Program Requirements
To be part of the Puente Program, students must enroll in all required classes, which include:

Program Hours and Location
The Puente Program operates during the following hours:
- Monday Thursday: 9:00am 4:30pm The program is located in Eagle Village, Latinx Center, Portable R5.
Undocumented Community Resource Center
The Undocumented Community Resource Center (UCRC) is a dedicated safe space for all students to understand the experience of undocumented students, students from mixed status families, and allies. The UCRC can assist with issues including AB-540/ CA Residence Questionnaire, the California Dream Act, and connecting to immigration services. The Center also provides information and resources on scholarships, clubs, food pantry, and community resources.
