Program Overview
Medical Assisting Program
The Medical Assisting Program is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become certified medical assistants.
Certification
The Medical Board of California recognizes five certifying bodies for medical assistants. Graduates of the SRJC Medical Assisting Program are eligible to sit for two certification exams:
- STATE: California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants (CCBMA)
- NATIONAL: American Medical Technologists (AMT)
Getting certified after the program is optional, but most healthcare employers in Sonoma County prefer it.
Certification Details
Please note that SRJC's MA program does not qualify students to sit for the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) exam, the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) exam, or the Multiskilled Medical Certification Institute (MMCI) exam.
Program Accreditation
Santa Rosa Junior College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
