Program Overview


Master of Music in Composition

The Master of Music in Composition is a graduate program that offers students the opportunity to develop their skills in composition and music production. Students in this program take individual lessons with renowned composition faculty and workshop developing material with a community of other composers.


Program Details

  • The program provides opportunities for students to hear new work performed by select ensembles drawn from current students, recent alumni of our performance programs, and visiting artists.
  • Academic classes provide opportunities for a rigorous engagement with analytic techniques, musicological thought, and music production.
  • Admission to the program is by portfolio, which should include two or three recent works.

Requirements

  • The program has specific requirements, including a course map and non-curricular requirements.
  • Students are expected to meet these requirements in order to graduate from the program.

Audition Registration

  • The deadline for audition registration is a week prior to the audition date based on the instrument.
  • For example, if voice auditions are on February 25, the application deadline will be February 18.
