Restorative Practices Program

The Macaulay Restorative Practice is a program that aims to build an inclusive community through restorative practices.


The Program

The program involves students, staff, and college leadership working together to build an inclusive Restorative Practice. This practice includes community-building circles, developing responses to harmful experiences, conflict resolution, and facilitating difficult conversations.


The Opportunity

The program offers opportunities for students to serve as Restorative Practice Mediators and Fellows.


  • Eight students will serve as Restorative Practice Mediators, facilitating workshops and community-building circles at their home campus.
  • Two students will serve as Restorative Practice Fellows, supporting the work of the Restorative Practice Program and the eight mediators.

The Commitment

  • Restorative Practice Mediators will receive $500 per semester and are expected to:
    • Participate in two 4-hour in-person trainings with the New York Peace Institute per semester.
    • Attend bi-monthly meetings with the program coordinator.
    • Facilitate community circles and/or workshops on their home campus.
  • Restorative Practice Fellows will receive $1000 per semester and are expected to:
    • Participate in the two trainings per semester.
    • Support mediators in their work.
    • Assist in coordination of Restorative Practice annual events and meetings.
