Program Overview

The New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) provides English as a Second Language (ESL) courses to New York City residents. These courses are designed to help individuals build their speaking and reading skills.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the free courses, individuals must meet the following requirements:

• Must live in New York City
• Be 21 years or older
• Not have received a U.S. high school diploma or its equivalent

Program Details

The NYCDOE ESL courses do not require individuals to have a social security number (SSN) or any documentation to enroll. The courses aim to support individuals in improving their English language skills, with a focus on speaking and reading.
