Information for International Students Transferring to the IELI
F-1 Students Transferring to the IELI
For F-1 students transferring to the International English Language Institute (IELI), the following steps and requirements apply:
- Complete the Online Application Form: The first step is to complete the online application form.
- Payment: Upon completion of the online application, a link for payment will be emailed within 2-3 business days. The full payment of $2,525 (which includes $2,300 tuition, $175 application fee, $25 registration fee, and $25 placement test fee) must be made to obtain an I-20.
- Original Financial Documents: A bank statement in English with a minimum balance of $44,154 is required. An additional $10,000 must be added for a spouse or child for dependent status.
- Sponsor's Bank Statement or Bank Letter: If someone else is the financial sponsor, their bank statement or bank letter in English with a minimum balance of $44,154 is required.
- Affidavit of Support Form: This form is necessary as part of the application process.
- Proof of Income: Documents such as pay stubs, W2, job letters, or income tax returns are required.
- Copy of All Three Pages of All I-20 Forms: From all schools attended in the U.S.
- Copy of F-1 Visa: And the I-94 arrival stamp.
After submitting the transfer application, an acceptance letter and transfer verification form will be received from Hunter College IELI within one week, once all documents are received.
- Placement Test: New students must take a placement test. The class of choice can be guaranteed only if the placement test is taken at least two weeks prior to the start of classes.
