Adolescent/Pre-Teen Swim (ages 7-14) Advanced Beginners Level
Program Overview
University Programs
The university offers a range of programs in various areas of study. The following programs are available:
Adolescent/Pre-Teen Swim
This class is designed for children who are comfortable in the water, have swimming ability, and can swim several feet unassisted. Students will learn skills such as front crawl, back crawl, and breathing techniques as well as increasing the distance in which they can swim.
Program Details
- Students will learn skills such as front crawl, back crawl, and breathing techniques as well as increasing the distance in which they can swim.
- The program is designed for children aged 7-14.
- Parents/Guardians are required to remain in the building while their children swim.
Competitive Swim Instruction
This program is designed for ages 10-14. Pre-requisites include swimming a minimum of 50 yards without stopping or needing assistance and the ability to swim backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle with rhythmic breathing.
Program Details
- The program covers the 4 basic competitive strokes: backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle.
- Students will refine their technique to increase efficiency, speed, endurance, and comfort in the water.
- Parents/Guardians are required to remain in the building while their children swim.
Community Swimming
This is a supervised recreational swimming program. Registration invoice for Community Swim is required for entrance to the pool. Children under 15 must be accompanied in the pool by an adult. Ages 15-18 must have adult supervision.
Program Details
- Pool hours are:
- Mondays from 6pm-9:45pm
- Tuesdays from 8:00pm-9:45pm
- Thursdays from 7:45pm-9:45pm
- Fridays from 2:00pm-5:00pm and 7:45pm-9:45pm
- Saturdays and Sundays from 2-4:45pm
- Skip dates: 4/02, 4/03, 4/04, 4/05, 4/06, 4/07, 4/09
Aqua Aerobics
This class focuses on muscular conditioning and cardio using flotation devices and the natural resistance of the water, for heart health and stamina. It is suitable for swimmers and non-swimmers of all levels.

- The program uses flotation devices and the natural resistance of the water.
- An assistive chair is available to help with entry and exit into the water.
Adult Intermediate Swim
This class is designed for swimmers who can comfortably swim 25 yards unassisted in any stroke. A basic knowledge of front crawl and back crawl is needed. Students will learn breathing technique, breaststroke, and butterfly, as well as building endurance and lap swimming etiquette.

- The program is designed for swimmers who can comfortably swim 25 yards unassisted in any stroke.
Adult Fitness Swimming
This course is designed for intermediate and advanced adult swimmers who want to improve their fitness and technique through workouts and drills. Participants should be comfortable swimming multiple lengths of the pool using all four competitive strokes.
Program Details
- The program focuses on improving technique and building endurance.
- Participants should be capable of the 4 competition strokes: front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.
Adult Beginner Swim
The Adult Beginner class is designed for participants who have very little or no swimming experience and may be uncomfortable in the water. The course will provide instruction in basic water skills including comfortable entry, submersion, floating, breathing techniques, and an introduction to basic swimming strokes.
