Program Overview
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at Kingsborough Community College is accredited by the Commission of Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
Admissions Requirements
To be eligible for admissions consideration, students must meet the following requirements:
- Maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.8
- Complete an initial semester of pre-requisite course work in:
- Freshman level English
- General psychology
- General statistics
- Anatomy and physiology
- Complete a minimum of 25 hours of exposure to physical therapy services
- Provide a letter of recommendation from a physical therapist working in the exposure facility
- Submit a writing sample on an assigned topic
Admission Process
The top candidates are interviewed by a panel of faculty and must complete the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). A maximum of 24 students per year are admitted into the advanced courses through a competitive process.
Curriculum Overview
Students complete pre-requisite course work in freshman level English, general psychology, general statistics, and anatomy and physiology.
