Overview
The Bachelor Degree with Integrated International Foundation Year (Design) BA is a four-year program designed to support international students in developing their English language and academic skills, exploring key design topics, and progressing onto their chosen undergraduate degree. This program is ideal for students who have a passion for creativity and problem-solving and want to apply their artistic skills, perception, and imagination to create innovative solutions.
Course Structure
The program consists of a foundation year, followed by three years of undergraduate study. The foundation year is designed to prepare students for entry onto an undergraduate degree within the School of Design, with a focus on developing critical English language and study skills, as well as subject-specific knowledge.
Year 1 Compulsory Modules
- Introduction to Design and Creative Thinking (40 credits)
- Academic Study Skills for Arts and Social Sciences (40 credits)
Year 1 Optional Modules
- Art and Cultural History (40 credits)
- Exploring the Arts and Humanities (40 credits)
Learning and Teaching
The program uses a variety of teaching and learning methods, including lectures, workshops, and seminars, supported by virtual learning platforms. Students will be taught by expert academics, industry professionals, and trained postgraduate researchers.
Assessment
Modules in the international foundation year will use a variety of assessment methods, including exams, essays, reports, and presentations.
