Program Overview
Mechanical Engineering BEng
The Mechanical Engineering BEng program at the University of Leeds is a three-year full-time course that provides students with a comprehensive education in mechanical engineering. The program is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and is designed to meet the academic requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer.
Course Overview
The course covers a wide range of topics, including engineering mathematics, thermofluids, solid mechanics, and engineering materials. Students will also have the opportunity to specialize in fields such as vehicle design, biomedical engineering, and robotics.
Course Structure
The course is divided into three years, with the first two years covering the core mechanical engineering principles and the final year focusing on specialist modules. Students will also have the opportunity to undertake an individual engineering project and participate in engineering summer internships.

Learning and Teaching
The course uses an integrated style of learning and teaching, with laboratory classes, project work, and industry-sponsored fieldwork. Students will also have access to specialist facilities, including a high-spec computer cluster and extensive laboratory space.
Assessment
Students will be assessed through a variety of methods, including written examinations, coursework, and project reports.

- A-level: A*AA including Mathematics and either Physics or Chemistry
- GCSE: English Language grade 4 (C) or higher
- Alternative qualifications: Access to HE Diploma, BTEC, Cambridge Pre-U, International Baccalaureate, Irish Leaving Certificate
