Program Overview
Introduction to the Political Communication MA
The Political Communication MA is a flagship interdisciplinary course that provides students with a deep understanding of how politicians, the media, and citizens interact to influence democratic processes across the globe. This course is designed to give students a solid foundation in the principles and practices of political communication, preparing them for careers in journalism, political consultancy, digital media, public relations, government, advocacy, or international governance.
Course Overview
The course teaches students to critically dissect successful messages and campaigns, exploring the power of political communication in both established and emerging democracies. Students will examine the role of AI in elections, the impact of populism, and the challenges to democracy posed by emergent media technologies. They will also develop practical skills in political campaigning, media relations, and communicating with the media.

Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the course, students must have a bachelor's degree with a 2:1 (hons) or equivalent qualification, preferably in a political communication-related degree. Relevant professional experience may also be considered. International students must meet the English language requirements, with an IELTS score of 6.5 overall and no less than 6.0 in any component.
Fees
The tuition fees for the course are:
- UK: £12,500 (Total)
- International: £29,500 (Total) Part-time fees are normally calculated based on the number of credits studied in a year compared to the equivalent full-time course.
