The Architecture Design MSc degree examines the physical and non-physical attributes applied to the built environment to form a city's layered knowledge. This interdisciplinary and experimental program combines architecture and sustainability issues through critical debate and creative practice.

Guaranteed Work Experience

While studying at Leeds, students will have the opportunity to complete an eight-week virtual work experience, working on a project aligned with their academic discipline and partnered with a relevant company. Course Details and Modules

The degree covers two taught design studio modules, a thesis, and lecture-based taught modules in specialist subjects. Students will conduct a critical analysis of cities' architecture and lead projects to speculate and experiment. Experimental methods and approaches will enhance critical skills and the ability to become leaders in the field.

Learning and Teaching

Teaching in this program is informed by a mix of lecture-based and practical design studio modules. Participating in group tutorials and engaging in peer review will enhance students' ability to articulate their thoughts and appreciate the perspectives of others.

Assessment

All modules will be assessed using coursework through design reviews, face-to-face group discussions, essays, oral presentations, reports, and group work. Assessment methods are used to map the acquisition of core knowledge and understanding, subject-specific skills, cognitive, and transferable skills.

Entry Requirements

• A bachelor degree with a 2:1 (hons) in architecture or a related subject.
• Alternative degree subjects may be considered based on module content, including landscape/urban design, urban planning, geography, sustainable cities, interior design, heritage, and conservation.
• International students must meet the English language requirements: IELTS 6.5 overall, with no less than 6.0 in any component.

Additional Cost Information

The School provides some model-making materials free for students to use and covers board printing costs. Students will be required to buy any additional items, such as model-making materials, drawing equipment, and sketchbooks. There may be other costs related to optional field trips, including standard travel, accommodation, and subsistence costs.

Scholarships and Financial Support

There may be help for students in the form of loans and non-repayable grants from the University and from the government. Scholarships are also available to help fund Masters studies.
