Program Overview
Promotional Media MA
The Promotional Media MA course provides an in-depth understanding of the promotional media and communication industries and their role in social, cultural, and economic life. Students will critically analyze the social impacts of promotional communication on areas such as journalism, the music industry, and political communication.
Course Overview
This course will examine the construction, influence, and impact of promotional media in a range of contexts. It will provide students with a real insight into the promotional media and communication industries, enabling them to acquire or refine high-level skills in areas such as research, critical analysis, interpretation, and oral and written communication.
Course Structure
The course is available full-time over 12 months or part-time over 24 months. The full-time course consists of compulsory and optional modules, while the part-time course is taken over two years, with fewer modules each year.

Learning and Teaching
The course uses a range of teaching and learning methods, including lectures, group learning, project work, seminars, tutorials, and workshops. Independent study is crucial to this degree, with students expected to spend at least 20 hours per week on independent study associated with their modules.
Assessment
Assessment methods may vary depending on the modules chosen and are likely to include essays, case analyses, group projects, and reports. Optional modules may use literature reviews, campaign reports, or even video and photography projects.
Entry Requirements
To apply for the Promotional Media MA, students will need a bachelor degree with a 2:1 (hons) or equivalent qualification, preferably in a promotional media and communications-related degree. Relevant experience, interest in promotional media and communications, or coming from an area of expertise complementary to promotional media and communications will also be considered.

English Language Requirements
Applicants will need to meet the English language requirements, which are IELTS 6.5 overall, with no less than 6.0 in any component.

Scholarships and Financial Support
There may be help for students in the form of loans and non-repayable grants from the University and from the government. Scholarships are also available to help fund the Masters course.
