Clinical Education PGDip

The PgDip Clinical Education Programme is an interprofessional programme designed to transform healthcare professionals into exceptional education practitioners. This course offers a responsive, work-related, and academically rigorous pathway for all healthcare practitioners involved in teaching and learning.

Course Overview

The programme is available on a part-time basis and focuses on integrating your workplace learning experiences. It encourages you to make critical and creative connections between your own and your students' practice and theoretical perspectives on teaching and learning.

Course Structure

The programme includes:

• Year 1: PG Cert Clinical Education, which can be taken online or campus-based
• Year 2: Delivered exclusively online
• Modules:
  • Learning and Teaching in the Clinical Context (30 credits)
  • Assessment and Evaluation in the Clinical Context (30 credits)
  • Researching Clinical Education (30 credits)
  • Developing Educational Practice (30 credits)

Learning and Teaching

You will engage in a dynamic learning experience through workshops, lectures, direct observation of your teaching, and peer review of teaching practice (microteaching). The programme's teaching philosophy is grounded in interprofessional and constructivist social learning, enhanced by cutting-edge digital tools.

Assessment

The PgCert Clinical Education year will provide you with a variety of assessment opportunities, including:

• Microteaching
• Observation of your teaching
• Essay
• Case study
• Educational change proposal
• Blog or vlog In the second year, you will collaborate with peers on a briefing paper and work on a case study and presentation.

Entry Requirements

• A bachelor (hons) degree in a health-related subject with at least a 2:2
• Entry on the appropriate professional register is required
• A minimum of 2 years' experience (or part-time equivalent) in practice
• Involvement in education and training in current role

International Students

The PgCert Online Clinical Education is available to international students. Direct entry to year 2 of the programme (PG Dip level) is also available to international applicants who already have a PG Cert in Clinical, Medical or Healthcare Professional Education. Language requirement is IELTS 7.0 overall, with no less than 6.5 in any component.

• UK: £8,500 (Total)
• International: £10,000 (Total)

Scholarships and Financial Support

There may be help for students in the form of loans and non-repayable grants from the University and from the government. Scholarships are also available to help fund your Masters.
