Guaranteed Work Experience

Course Structure
The course includes compulsory and optional modules. Compulsory modules cover professional projects, team design projects, and design and manufacturing technology. Optional modules allow students to gain advanced engineering skills in areas such as experimental methods, computational modelling, and design optimisation.
Compulsory Modules
- Professional Project – 60 credits: Students undertake a professional project applying professional skills, including project planning, risk assessment, and management.
- Team Design Project – 15 credits: A multidisciplinary approach to achieve a solution to a programme-specific, industrially relevant design problem.
- Design and Manufacturing Technology– 15 credits: Practical knowledge of core manufacturing technologies used in modern engineering practice.
Optional Modules
- Design Optimisation – 15 credits: Comprehensive understanding of the scientific principles of design optimisation.
- Surface Engineering and Coatings – 15 credits: Focus on surface technologies across different manufacturing sectors.
- Energy Systems, Policy and Economics for Engineers – 15 credits: Engineering backgrounds to key issues in energy systems, including policy and economics.
- Engineering Computational Methods – 15 credits: Introduction to basic computational methods used to solve engineering problems.
- Experimental Methods and Analysis – 15 credits: Theoretical and practical training required for design of experiments and data processing.
- Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis – 15 credits: Competent performance of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis with commercial software packages.

Entry Requirements
- A bachelor's degree with a 2:1 (hons) in an engineering discipline.
- Successful applicants will have modules covering mathematics and mechanics.
- English language requirements: IELTS 6.5 overall, with no less than 6.0 in any component.

Scholarships and Financial Support
There may be help for students in the form of loans and non-repayable grants from the University and from the government. Scholarships are also available to help fund Masters studies.
