First Year Seminar (FYS)
About the Course
First Year Seminar is a one-term course that provides a unique opportunity for all first-year students. The course is designed around topics that spark students' interest and is taken with peers who live in the same residence hall. This setup allows students to build meaningful connections with their classmates and neighbors, both academically and socially. Supportive professors guide students as they learn how to explore campus and engage in college-level research questions that they are passionate about.
Benefits
Students in the First Year Seminar will learn:
- The needed skills to succeed in college, both socially and academically
- The importance of mentors and engaging with the campus community
- Time management
