Program Information
The Grundlärarutbildning med inriktning mot arbete i grundskolans ĺrskurs 4-6 program is designed for individuals who wish to work with students between the ages of 10 and 13. This period is often referred to as the middle childhood years and is a significant and eventful time in a child's life.
Program Description
The program includes subject and subject-didactic studies, an educational science core, and work-integrated learning. Students will gain solid subject knowledge in mathematics, English, and Swedish, as well as the opportunity to broaden their education through an elective subject. All subject courses have a clear didactic perspective, making the studies relevant to the student's future teaching profession.
Program Structure
The program is conducted full-time and consists of lectures, seminars, self-studies, field studies, and work-integrated learning. The work-integrated learning component (VFU) comprises 23 weeks, during which students will have the opportunity to apply and develop their future teaching role under the guidance of experienced teachers. In the final terms of the program, students will write either two degree projects of 15 credits each or one project of 30 credits. Through this project, students will develop their ability to delimit, conduct, and report a scientific work relevant to their future profession.
Degree and Career Opportunities
Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded a Grundlärarexamen (Degree of Master of Science in Primary Education) with a specialization in teaching students in grades 4-6. This degree will qualify students to work as primary school teachers in Sweden.

- Naturkunskap A (Natural Science A)
- Samhällskunskap A (Social Science A) Alternatively, students may also meet the admission requirements with:
- Engelska 6 (English 6)
- Matematik 2a/2b/2c (Mathematics 2a/2b/2c)
- Naturkunskap 1b/1a1 + 1a2 (Natural Science 1b/1a1 + 1a2)
- Samhällskunskap 1b/1a1+1a2 (Social Science 1b/1a1+1a2) Students must also meet the Omrĺdesbehörighet 6 b/A6 b (Field-Specific Eligibility) requirements.
