Program Overview
Foreign Trade Programme
The Foreign Trade programme is designed to train intermediate manpower to work on foreign trade and customs legislation. The programme aims to provide education on various aspects of foreign trade, including how to carry out international trade, customs legislation, market analysis, and finance for foreign trade.
Programme Objectives
The objectives of the Foreign Trade programme are to:
- Provide education on how to carry out international trade in sectoral, regional, and local scales
- Develop competence in customs legislation issues
- Analyze markets and obtain finance for foreign trade
- Understand the importance of following the legislation of the profession
- Grasp the features of enterprises that operate in business life and foreign trade
- Distinguish the documents used in business life
- Know the basic concepts of economics and stock market
- Express the importance of foreign trade for the economy of the country and enterprises
- Find a customer and choose a target market in foreign trade
- Enhance knowledge about foreign trade management
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Foreign Trade programme can work in:
- Organizations affiliated to the Ministry of Customs and Trade
- Chambers of commerce and industry
- Banks and financial institutions (especially foreign exchange departments)
- Foreign trade departments of private companies dealing with export and/or import
- Insurance, customs, and foreign trade consultancy institutions
- Transportation companies Graduates may also obtain a B card and work under the title of Assistant Customs Consultant, and then become a Customs Consultant.
Programme Structure
The programme consists of two years of study, with the following courses taught and applied:
- In the first year: Economics, Business, Law, General Information on Customs, Basic Mathematics, Business Law, Computer, Turkey Customs Organization, General Accounting, Turkish Economy
- In the second year: International Economy, Container Systems and Management, Turkish Tax System, Economic Crimes and Criminal Law, Import Export Procedures, Customs Law and Regulations, Global Logistics, Warehouse Management Systems, Free Zone and Port Management, Customs Tariff Schedules, Prevention of Smuggling and Monitoring, Total Quality Management, Customs Information Technologies, International Shipping and Insurance
Internship Requirement
Students are required to complete at least 30 working days of internship to graduate. They can do their internships at customs offices and customs brokerages.
Language of Instruction
The medium of instruction is Turkish. English Preparatory Education is optional.
