Program Overview

Medical English Course

The Medical English course is designed to improve the confidence of medical professionals in their speaking and listening abilities, while also supporting progress in reading and writing skills. The course focuses on the skills required in a hospital or clinic environment, such as patient approach, giving opinions, and recommendations.

Course Structure

• The course consists of 20 General English lessons and 10 Medical English lessons per week.
• The lesson length is 45 minutes.
• The course duration is 2 weeks.
• The entry level required is B2 (Intermediate) to C2 (Advanced).

Course Objectives

• Gain more confidence communicating with both patients and colleagues.
• Increase knowledge of the way English is used in Medicine, including Layman's Terms.
• Develop greater awareness of the difference in the patient-doctor relationship with English-speaking patients.
• Enhance skills in specific areas, such as formulating questions and discussing patient case histories.

Assessment and Progress

• Personal learning plans.
• A portfolio of work.
• Entry/exit test.
• Weekly tests.

Certification

• At the end of the course, receive an Oxford English Centre Certificate documenting language level.
