Basketball: Skills, Strategy & Global Teamwork Summer Program

Overview

The Basketball: Skills, Strategy & Global Teamwork Summer Program is a unique and exciting opportunity for students to develop their basketball skills, explore American basketball culture, and compete alongside peers from around the world.

Ages

The program is designed for students aged 14-17, with groups divided by age and skill level.

Course Length

The program is offered for 1-2 weeks, with a minimum of 6 students required to run each week.

Average Class Size

The average class size is 16 students, ensuring personalized attention and instruction from experienced coaches.

Basketball Ability

Sessions Per Week

Course Overview

Coaching

Students participate in 18 hours of basketball coaching per week, focusing on skill development, tactical growth, and increased confidence in decision-making under pressure.

Sports Science

Each week features a learning afternoon with a Sports Science professor, building a scientific understanding of how to attain high performance on the court and sustain it.

Activities

The school day finishes with an evening activity, which includes discos, international nights, and talent shows, providing opportunities for students to use the English they have learned and make international friends.

Excursions

Excursions allow students to really get to know the USA, using destinations such as Downtown Boston as a classroom, where students will find historic and cultural information through guided walking tours and visits to museums and other places of interest.

Educational Visits

On each 2-week course, there is the opportunity to visit a local showcase event with classmates and coaches to analyze skills and tactics and absorb the atmosphere of a competitive US basketball event.

Certificate

A certificate is awarded for the successful completion of the course.

Course Structure & Outcomes

The program is led by highly regarded and currently approved Nike-affiliated leagues (NYBL) coaches, with daily training sessions focusing on technical fundamentals, tactical awareness, and physical conditioning. The program emphasizes experiential learning, introducing students to the cultural significance of basketball in the United States and fostering collaboration across diverse backgrounds.
