Program Overview


Certificate in Beauty Therapy

The Certificate in Beauty Therapy is a Level 4 program that combines hands-on training with essential theoretical knowledge to master a wide range of beauty services. This curriculum is designed to prepare students for immediate employment in the beauty industry or provide a pathway to further education.


Course Content

  • Gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in various waxing methods, including strip and hot wax applications for facial and body areas.
  • Develop knowledge in skin analysis, manual facial therapy, and the use of electrical equipment such as vacuum suction, high frequency, and galvanic machines for enhanced treatment results.
  • Perfect techniques for express and full manicures and pedicures, including massage, gel polish application and removal, nail art, and specialized treatments for hands and feet.
  • Learn key professional abilities such as client management, small business operations, health and safety, and industry best practices.
  • Develop a strong foundation in anatomy & physiology, diseases & disorders, chemistry, product knowledge, and nutrition for the skin to inform practical work with real clients.

Entry Requirements

  • Applicants must be aged 16 or older at the start of the program to ensure readiness for professional training.
  • Completion of a Level 3 Certificate in Beauty or equivalent qualification, OR NCEA Level 2 or equivalent secondary education from a recognized institution.
  • An interview may be required to assess eligibility and suitability for the program.

Technical Requirements

A computer/laptop, microphone, and reliable internet connection are required for learning. Phones are not suitable devices for supporting study.


Additional Requirements

This program requires 37.5 learning hours per week, which includes approximately 22 contact hours and 15.5 non-contact hours. Students will be required to participate in hands-on training and industry-related activities.


Domestic Course Costs

  • Tuition Fees: $19,416
  • Student Services Levy: $350 Students may be eligible for fees-free study, with course fees paid up to a maximum of $12,000.

Course Related Costs

  • Uniform cost: ranges from $140.50 to $380, depending on the uniform items selected.
  • Device required: Laptop (cellphones are not acceptable as a device). These course-related costs are not covered under any fees-free funding schemes.

International Students

  • Must be 18 years or older (or provide proof of living with a parent/guardian if under 18) and demonstrate English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS Level 5.5 (Academic), with no band less than 5.
  • Tuition fees: $26,000.00
  • Course fee: $2,000.00
