Program Overview


Program Overview

The Logistics and Supply Chain Management Certificate Courses are designed for supply chain practitioners, operations managers, and business owners who need to enhance their knowledge of logistics and supply chain management. The program is offered by Thames International Business School and Singapore Institute of Materials Management (SIMM) and consists of three individual modules.


Program Modules

The three modules offered are:


  • E-Commerce and E-Fulfillment
  • Logistics and Supply Chain Strategic Management
  • Resilience and Supply Chain Security Management Participants can choose to take one, two, or all three modules, with each module taking one month to complete.

E-Commerce and E-Fulfillment

This module covers current e-commerce and e-fulfillment strategies, including:


  • Development of a proper order fulfillment system
  • Third-party logistics (3PL) as an important stakeholder
  • Implementation of business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) orders
  • Understanding the requirements of the end consumer The course provides inputs to the e-fulfillment process, including:
  • Processing and managing inventory
  • Choosing the correct packaging for the lowest practical dimensional weight
  • Nuances of the fulfillment workflow
  • Inventory storage system in e-fulfillment
  • Order processing in e-commerce
  • Shipping management technology in e-commerce
  • Returns processing in e-commerce

Logistics and Supply Chain Strategic Management

This module focuses on identifying the organization's strength and industry position and understanding the external factors that may influence that position. It concerns strategic decisions about choice of products and technologies to meet the needs and wants of customers, gaining competitive advantage, and exploiting or creating new opportunities. The module helps participants build a logistics strategy with guiding principles, attitudes, and driving forces that coordinate plans, goals, and policies between different partners across the supply chain.


Resilience and Supply Chain Security Management

This module focuses on the constellation of Supply Chain Resiliency and Risks arising from emerging technologies, financial interdependence, resource depletion, climate change, and disasters. It covers the development of strategies to minimize exposure and complexity inherent in globalization, strategic management of the supply chain, establishment of more adaptable safeguards, timely responses to emerging risks, and global and regulatory changes.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline
  • Other equivalent qualifications deemed acceptable by SIMM/Thames International

Award of Certificate

A Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to the participant upon completion of each module.


Fees

  • Enrolment Fee for each module: USD250.00
  • One-time registration fee: USD30.00
  • Total investment for:
    • 1 module: USD250.00 (approx. PHP12,750.00)
    • 2 modules: USD500.00 (approx. PHP25,500.00)
    • 3 modules: USD750.00 (approx. PHP38,250.00) Full payment is required upon enrolment.

Assessments

  • A 3-hour written exam: 50% of total grade
  • Assignments and E-quiz: 50% of total grade

Study Trip

An optional study trip to Singapore will be organized after the COVID-19 pandemic, as travel circumstances permit. The course fee does not include airfare, hotel accommodation, and other incidental expenses pertaining to the study tour.
