University Programs

The university offers a variety of programs in different fields, including fashion, interior design, and sewing.

Fashion Programs

• Fashion Diplomas: The university offers a Fashion Design & Creative Arts diploma, as well as a Fashion Design Core 4 diploma.
• Fashion Certificate: The Fashion Design & Illustration certificate, Pattern Making & Assembling Technique certificate, Couture Pattern Making certificate, Technical Pattern Making certificate, Gerber Pattern Making & Grading certificate, 3D Apparel Design & Integration certificate, and Basic Costuming for Film & Television certificate are available.
• Fashion Business: The Global Fashion Marketing diploma and Styling & Marketing for Fashion & Lifestyle diploma are offered, as well as a Product Development, Sourcing & Manufacturing diploma.

Interior Design Programs

• Interior Design Certificate: The university offers an Interior Design certificate.
• Core 4 Interior Design Diploma: A Core 4 Interior Design diploma is also available.

Sewing Programs

• Sewing Courses: The university offers a 2-Day Intensive Sewing course, Sewing Level 1, Sewing Level 2, Sewing Level 3, and Industrial Sewing.
• Pattern Making: A Pattern Making Fundamentals course is available.

Intensive Programs

• 2-Week Intensives: The university offers 2-Week Intensive courses in Sewing, Basic Pattern Making, 2nd Level Pattern Making, Fashion Design & Illustration, Gerber Digital, and Couture Embellishment.

Applications and Youth Camps

• Applications: An Adobe Illustrator course and Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) course are available, as well as an AI to Rocket Launch Your Business course.
• Youth Camps: The university offers a Fashion Design & Sewing Camp and a Makeup & Styling Camp.

SketchUp Program

Overview

The SketchUp program is a 2-Week course that takes place on Mondays to Thursdays from 4PM to 8PM. The course has a capacity of 12 students and costs $995.00.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, students will learn:

• Basic practical tools using SketchUp software to create 3D models up to scale
• Producing 3D views to be used as part of presentations to clients
• Design development tools to enhance Interior Design projects

Completion Requirements

The Cut Academy uses a grade scale to determine each student's grade through their work. Students must receive a complete or incomplete.

Materials Required

• Software (Trimble for SketchUp) - compatible with Windows only

Method of Evaluation

• Practical assessments: Students will be evaluated on their participation in practical projects during the class
• Demonstration: Students may be required to document their work through live demonstrations

Course Content

The course covers:

• Introduction to the software, environment preparation (tool palettes, units), line, faces, push/pull
• Group Creation, Copy, multi-copy, move, reference points
• Rotate, Texture application
• Texture creation, scale, 3D gallery
• Group/object modifications, explode, hide, Import CAD plans
• Field of view (elevations, export views to CAD)
• Scene creation, field of view, walkthrough video
• Profile modes, final presentation

Professors

• Nikki Renshaw: A graduate of Blanche MacDonald's fashion design program, with experience in commission-based work and teaching.
• Hector Alvarez: A seasoned Architect with over 18 years of experience in designing and constructing projects, and a Bachelor of Applied Design in Interior Design from LaSalle College Vancouver.

Program Approval

The program is approved by the Registrar of the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills. The Cut Design Academy is a PTIB-designated institution.
