Specific Course: Variations on a Theme: The Renaissance in Art and Music

Course Description

This course explores the cultural contexts of music and artmaking in the Renaissance, examining parallel themes in both art forms and their consumption. It will cover topics such as the treatment of love in art and music, the staging of courtly weddings, and the emergence of triangular forms in art and the triad in music.

• Dr. Matteo Chirumbolo, who completed his PhD at the Courtauld in 2024 and has worked as a Postdoctoral Associate Researcher at the University of Cambridge
• Tamsin Lewis, a musician and historian specializing in the early modern era, with extensive experience in early music performance and research
