Showcasing Art History
The Showcasing Art History programme is a series of lectures that aim to share the latest art-historical thinking and The Courtauld's excellence in teaching and research with the wider public. The lectures are open to everyone over the age of 18 and are given by members of the faculty, associates, and alumni of The Courtauld, as well as other eminent scholars.
Summer Term 2022
The summer term 2022 programme includes:
- Between Power and Conflict: Case studies of art in times of war and revolution from 1868 to today: This lecture series explores the looting of cultural treasures during Western colonial expansion in the nineteenth century, with case studies including the dispersal and restitution of works of art during and after the Russian Revolution, the Europe-wide looting of art works during the Nazi era, and the traumatic impact on the arts of the Iranian Revolution and the invasion of Iraq.
- Lectures are held on Tuesdays, 19:00 - c.20:30, from 26 April to 24 May 2022.
- The programme includes lectures, discussion, and drinks, as well as pre-course and further reading materials.

The Courtauld Institute is located at Vernon Square, Penton Rise, London WC1X 9EW. The campus is accessible by public transport, with nearby tube stations including King's Cross and Euston, and train stations including King's Cross, St Pancras, and Euston. Disabled parking is available on site.
