Course Description
This UCLA Medical Assistant Program course is the first in a 3-part series. It covers foundations for clinical practice including vital signs, patient intake, assessment, and documentation principles.
Course Objectives
- Practice various administrative functions required to be a Medical Assistant
- Interpret insurance eligibilities and pre-authorization processes
- Discover procedural and diagnostic coding
- Integrate basic finance practices into clinical work
About This Course
This course will cover foundations for clinical practice where students will participate in interactive experiential learning activities including patient simulations and exposure to the Ambulatory Care Setting. Students will learn vital signs, patient intake, assessment, and documentation principles, principles of infection control, and other protective practices. Each week will build upon previous knowledge, skills, and attitudes learned.
