Hungarian and Portuguese BA
The Hungarian and Portuguese BA program is offered by University College London (UCL) and is taught across two departments: the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) and the School of European Languages, Culture and Society (SELCS). This program provides students with the opportunity to develop fluent language skills in Hungarian and Portuguese, as well as gain a deeper understanding of the literature, culture, and society associated with these languages.
Program Overview
The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the Hungarian and Portuguese languages, as well as the cultures and societies in which they are spoken. Students will take a range of modules, including language classes, literature, linguistics, history, and cultural studies. The program also includes a year abroad, where students will have the opportunity to study or work in a country where one of their chosen languages is spoken.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the program, students must meet the following entry requirements:
- A levels: ABB, with an A level or equivalent in a foreign language required (not necessarily one of the named languages)
- IB Diploma: 34 points, with a total of 16 in three higher level subjects to include a foreign language, with no higher level score below 5
- GCSEs: English Language at grade B or 6 and Mathematics at grade C or 4
- Contextual offer: BBB, with a total of 15 in three higher level subjects to include a foreign language, with no higher level score below 5
Tuition Fees
The tuition fees for the program are as follows:
- UK students: ｣9,790 (2026/27)
- International students: ｣32,000 (2026/27)
Program Structure
The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the Hungarian and Portuguese languages, as well as the cultures and societies in which they are spoken. The program includes:
- Language classes: Students will take compulsory language modules in Hungarian and Portuguese, with the option to take additional language modules
