Description

This module is a 5-week clinical placement in General Practice. You will be placed out of London and have the opportunity to experience General Practice in a different geographical setting from previous years.

The final-year GP assistantship placement is designed to build on earlier years GP placements with a focus on preparing students for foundation posts. You will build confidence by working with the clinical team daily and become a part of the delivery of day-to-day care of patients, under close supervision from a GP. You will have opportunities to lead surgeries and consult with a variety of patients enabling a smoother transition to foundation posts.

This module requires you to actively participate in your own learning by identifying your learning needs and any gaps in your knowledge and skills, including seeking opportunities to bridge these during your placement.

Additionally, you will have opportunities to experience and think about General Practice in a broader context considering clinical governance, reflective practice, dealing with uncertainty, and the interface with other healthcare professionals.
