The School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) offers a versatile degree in Ukrainian and East European Studies. This program allows students to gain near-native language skills and develop an intercultural understanding of the humanities.

The Ukrainian and East European Studies BA is a four-year full-time program that provides students with excellent language skills, experience of a year abroad, and profound knowledge of Ukrainian literature, history, and culture. This prepares students for a wide variety of careers.

Course Overview

The degree trains students to the highest level of proficiency in speaking, writing, and understanding Ukrainian, whether they begin with no prior knowledge or already have some command of the language. Compulsory language modules are tailored to students' existing knowledge, and they also take compulsory modules on literature and culture.

The third year is spent abroad, studying at a partner university in the region. This brings the language and culture to life and strengthens resourcefulness and self-reliance.
