Introduction to Implant Dentistry PG Cert

The Implant Dentistry PG Cert programme is designed for dentists with limited experience in implant dentistry, aiming to equip them with the skills to identify, plan, restore, and maintain implants in straightforward cases. This blended-learning course is ideal for overseas students based anywhere in the world.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must possess an approved undergraduate dental qualification (i.e., BDS, or equivalent from a recognised institution) and have a minimum of one year of clinical experience post-qualification. English language requirements are also applicable, with the English language level for this course being Level 3.

Course Overview

The PG Cert teaches students to describe and perform the surgical steps involved in the guided placement of a dental implant. Students will learn how to plan, restore, and maintain implants for straightforward, single-unit cases. This mixed-mode course combines remote learning and tuition throughout the year with four sessions of two or three days on site in London.

Teaching and Learning

The programme is delivered through a series of remote webinars, interactive lectures, seminars, workshops, and live/video surgery in state-of-the-art skills laboratories. Students will engage in hands-on practical skills work, receive personal feedback, and participate in consolidation and feedback sessions with peers. Assessments include multiple-choice questions, in-class essays, practical lab exercises, and presentations.

In this one-year programme, students will complete three compulsory modules worth 60 credits:

• DENT0033 Implant Planning
• DENT0034 Implant Science
• IDENT0035 Implant Prosthodontics

Fees and Funding

• UK tuition fees (2026/27): ｣12,650
• Overseas tuition fees (2026/27): ｣17,700 Additional costs include travel and accommodation for campus-based teaching blocks and costs related to implant treatment, such as computer hardware for digital implant planning.
