Program Overview
Introduction to the Oral Medicine MSc Program
The Oral Medicine MSc program at University College London (UCL) is a full-time, one-year master's degree that focuses on the diagnosis and medical treatment of conditions of the mouth, face, salivary glands, and jaw bones. This program is designed for dental professionals who wish to extend their knowledge and skills in oral medicine.
Program Overview
The program includes the study of a wide range of oral medicine conditions, with an emphasis on putting theory into practice. Students will gain experience in the clinical care of patients with disorders relevant to oral medicine, as well as the opportunity to take part in the examination, diagnosis, assessment, investigations, prevention, and management of disease.
Entry Requirements
All applicants must hold an approved dental qualification and have a minimum of two years' clinical experience post-qualification. Previous clinical experience relevant to Oral Medicine is preferable. The English language level for this course is Level 2.
Course Structure
The program is delivered through a mix of:

Modules
Full-time students will complete five compulsory taught modules and a research dissertation. The modules consist of a range of elements, including lectures, clinical tutorials, and literature review seminars, self-guided learning, clinical teaching, and a research dissertation.

Fees and Funding
The tuition fees for the 2026/27 academic year are Ł41,800 for UK students and Ł70,300 for international students. Fees for subsequent years may increase or otherwise vary.

After completion of the program, graduates have typically followed five potential pathways:

According to the HESA Graduate Outcomes survey, all Oral Medicine MSc graduates who responded were either in highly skilled work or postgraduate study. Employers include public and private practices and hospitals in the UK, the Middle East, and Asia.

Accreditation
Successful completion of the MSc in Oral Medicine might be considered when making allowance for past training and experience in relation to the length of training posts (specialty training) in oral medicine in the UK.
Teaching and Learning
The program is taught by UCL's internationally recognized research-driven clinical academics. The emphasis is on putting theory into practice to equip students to diagnose and treat patients with common and sometimes rare or complex oral diseases.

Additional Costs
Students must arrange their own financial support for travel and living in London for the face-to-face teaching period, including clinical teaching in the partner University College London Hospital. A fee deposit will be charged at 2.5% of the first year fee for UK students and 10% for international students. A completed DBS check is required for some compulsory modules, and a charge for Post Office ID verification is payable by the student.
