Introduction to the Psychology and Trauma (Child and Adolescent) PG Dip

The Psychology and Trauma (Child and Adolescent) PG Dip is a postgraduate program offered by the University College London (UCL) in partnership with the Anna Freud Centre. This innovative and flexible program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to explore the latest research evidence and applied practice related to the psychological impact of trauma in childhood.

Program Overview

The program is taught entirely online, either full-time or part-time, and is designed for professionals working in sectors such as psychology, mental health, healthcare, social care, education, community, criminal justice, or public health. The program aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the psychological impact of trauma on children and adolescents, as well as the skills to address its challenges in diverse sectors.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the program, applicants must have a minimum of an upper second-class Bachelor's degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. Alternatively, a lower second-class honors degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard will be considered if there is evidence of sufficient professional experience in a relevant setting. Applicants will usually have a degree in Psychology, Mental Health, Public Health, Social Sciences, Child Development, Education, Social Work, or related disciplines.

English Language Requirements

The English language level for this course is Level 2. UCL Pre-Master's and Pre-sessional English courses are available for international students who are aiming to study for a postgraduate degree at UCL.

Program Structure

The program is designed to be flexible, with options to study at PG Certificate, PG Diploma, or Master's level. The full-time PG Dip program is expected to be completed in one year, while the part-time PG Dip program is expected to be completed in two years.

Teaching and Learning

The program is undertaken entirely online, with a combination of asynchronous and synchronous learning. Asynchronous learning includes lectures, readings, activities, and forum discussions, while synchronous learning includes live seminars, workshops, and peer tutorials.

The tuition fees for the program are:

• International students: ｣14,700 (full-time), ｣7,350 (part-time) There are no program-specific additional costs for this program, although students will need suitable technology and web access to engage with their study.
