Introduction to the Systems Engineering for the Internet of Things MSc
The Systems Engineering for the Internet of Things MSc is a one-year Master's program that integrates electronics, programming, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT) with entrepreneurship. This program prepares students to become experts in IoT, suitable for industries such as manufacturing, consumer electronics, security, mining, design, transport, exploration, and healthcare.
Program Overview
The program combines academic expertise in Systems Engineering for the Internet of Things with insights from industry experts and real-world customers. Hands-on experience is central to this degree, with multiple projects throughout the program. Students will gain a core understanding of designing, deploying, and using distributed sensors and actuators in the real world, along with entrepreneurial skills and practical experience.
Entry Requirements
- A minimum of an upper second-class UK Bachelor's degree (or international qualification of an equivalent standard) in electronic and electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- Applicants should have some experience of programming languages such as C, C++, Python, or Java.
- Applicants should have some experience with algebra, numerical analysis, probability, or statistics.
- Applicants must show an interest in developing creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
English Language Requirements
The English language level for this course is Level 2. UCL Pre-Master's and Pre-sessional English courses are available for international students who need to improve their academic English and academic skills.

Fees and Funding
- UK tuition fees (2026/27): Ł21,500
- Overseas tuition fees (2026/27): Ł42,700
- Additional costs include a fee deposit, a modern computer with minimum specifications, and potential costs for a capable GPU for machine learning projects.
