Program Overview
Introduction to the MBBS Program
The MBBS program at University College London (UCL) is a world-class education in one of the most vibrant cities in the world. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of medicine and prepare them for a successful career in the field.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the MBBS program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- GCSE (or IGCSE, O-level, IB or EB equivalent) at grade B/6 or above in both English Language and Mathematics
- Three A-levels studied at the same time, including Chemistry and Biology
- The third subject is the student's own choice and can be any subject other than General Studies or Critical Thinking
- Our standard conditional offer will be grades AAA to include AA in Chemistry and Biology, either order
Application Process
Applications for the MBBS program are made through UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service). The application deadline is 15 October, and late applications are not considered. The UCAS application should be complete and accurate when submitted, as we do not accept later amendments.
Selection Procedure
The selection procedure for the MBBS program involves the following steps:
- Initial review of applications to ensure they meet the minimum academic entry requirements
- Invitation to attend a Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) for candidates who meet the requirements
- The MMI is used to assess the candidate's communication skills, empathy, and problem-solving abilities
- The total UCAT score and SJT score are used to select candidates for interview
Interviews
Interviews for the MBBS program are conducted on campus for Home fee-paying candidates and online for overseas students. Candidates will be asked a series of structured questions and receive a score for their responses. The interview outcome will be displayed on UCAS Track and on the UCL Applicant Portal.
Graduate Applications
Graduates who wish to apply for the MBBS program must meet the following requirements:
- An upper second-class Honours (2.1) degree from a recognised UK university
- ABB grades in A-levels taken prior to their first degree (or 34 Overall points in the IB with a minimum of 16 Higher Level points and scores of 6,5,5)
- Science and non-science graduates are considered equally
- Graduates must complete all parts of the 5-year program; there are no exemptions apart from the iBSc
Finance
Graduates intending to apply for the MBBS program should be aware of the financial implications of embarking on the medical program. Home fees are currently in the region of 」9,535 per year, with at least an additional 」15,000 per year recommended for living expenses.
