Introduction to Mechanical Engineering with a Year in Industry BEng (Hons)

The Mechanical Engineering with a Year in Industry BEng (Hons) program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices. This four-year program includes a year-long industry placement, which enables students to gain practical experience and apply their knowledge in a real-world setting.

Program Structure

The program is divided into four years, with the first two years focusing on the scientific understanding of professional engineering. Students will learn about project management, computer programming, and engineering design, as well as develop their problem-solving skills. The third year is spent on an industry placement, where students will work with an approved organization to gain hands-on experience. The final year involves advanced engineering science and a 300-hour research project on a topic of the student's choice.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• A levels: AAB, including Mathematics and a second science
• GCSE: 4/C in English and 4/C in Mathematics
• International Baccalaureate: 34 points overall, with no score less than 4, and including 5 in HL Mathematics and 5 in HL Physics
• BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate: Acceptable at grade Distinction* alongside BB in A Level Mathematics and a second science
• BTEC Level 3 Diploma: Distinction* Distinction* in relevant BTEC, plus B in A Level Mathematics grade B
• English language requirements: IELTS 6.0 overall, with no component below 5.5, or equivalent

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees for the program are:

• UK fees: Ł9,790 per year (full-time), Ł1,955 (year in industry fee)
• International fees: Ł32,000 per year (full-time), Ł1,955 (year in industry fee)

Scholarships and Bursaries

• The Liverpool Bursary: up to Ł2,000 per year for UK students with a household income below Ł35,000
• Asylum Seekers Scholarship: full tuition fee waiver and support with study costs
