Program Overview
Introduction to Philosophy, Politics and Economics
The Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) program at the University of Liverpool is a multidisciplinary course that combines the study of philosophy, politics, and economics. This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the social sciences and the skills to analyze and evaluate complex issues.
Course Content
The PPE program covers a wide range of topics, including:

Teaching and Assessment
The PPE program is taught through a combination of lectures, seminars, and online support materials. Students learn by reading and studying outside class time, attending and participating in classes, and completing coursework. The program employs a mixture of assessment modes, including exams, coursework, and dissertations.

The School has its own placements and employability officer, and you will have the opportunity to undertake a work placement or a year in industry as part of your programme. Graduates in PPE obtain work in fields such as:

Fees and Funding
The tuition fees for the PPE program are:
- UK fees: £9,790 per year
- International fees: £27,000 per year
- Year in industry fee: £1,955
- Year abroad fee: £1,465 (applies to year in China)
Entry Requirements
The entry requirements for the PPE program are:
- A levels: AAB, including A in Mathematics
- T levels: not accepted
- GCSE: Mathematics at grade 5/C and English at grade 4/C
- BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma: DDD, plus A level Mathematics at grade A
- International Baccalaureate: 34 points overall, with no score less than 4, including 6 in higher level Mathematics
- Irish Leaving Certificate: H1, H1, H2, H2, H2, H3, including H1 in Mathematics
- Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher: AAB, including A in Mathematics
- Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced: B, plus grades AA at A level, including Mathematics at grade A
- Access: pass relevant Access to HE Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits, with 36 at Distinction, including 15 Level 3 credits in Mathematics and 9 at Merit
- International qualifications: select your country or region to view specific entry requirements
English Language Requirements
The English language requirements for the PPE program are:
- IELTS: 6.5 overall, with no component below 5.5
- TOEFL iBT: 88 overall, with minimum scores of listening 17, writing 17, reading 17, and speaking 19
- Duolingo English Test: 125 overall, with speaking, reading, and writing not less than 105, and listening not below 100
- Pearson PTE Academic: 61 overall, with no component below 59
- LanguageCert Academic: 70 overall, with no skill below 60
- Cambridge IGCSE First Language English: grade C overall, with a minimum of grade 2 in speaking and listening
- Cambridge IGCSE Second Language English: grade B overall, with a minimum of grade 2 in speaking
Pre-sessional English
The University of Liverpool offers Pre-sessional English courses to help students improve their English language skills. The length of the Pre-sessional English course depends on the student's current level of English language ability.
