Program Overview
Therapeutic Radiography and Oncology BSc (Hons)
The Therapeutic Radiography and Oncology programme at the University of Liverpool allows students to develop into competent and resilient radiographers, equipped with the necessary skills to flourish in a wide array of professional environments. This programme aims to produce competent, reflective, research-active, caring, safe, proactive, and progressive Therapeutic Radiographers through an innovative and authentic teaching and assessment strategy.
Introduction
The course content is designed using a case-based approach, where a cancer patient case brings to life the radiotherapy patient journey and provides a framework to connect content delivered. The programme content is organised into four key themes:
- Radiotherapy physics, technology, and radiobiology
- Radiation oncology and patient care
- Preparation for practice and professionalism
- Research methods in radiotherapy

Entry Requirements
Qualifications and exam results required for entry include:
- A levels: BBB with at least one science subject
- T levels: considered in a relevant subject
- GCSE: 5 GCSEs at Grades A* - C, including English Language, Mathematics, and Science
- BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma: considered in addition to 5 GCSEs
- International Baccalaureate: 30 points overall with no score less than 4
- European Baccalaureate: 74% overall with a minimum mark of 8 in Biology
- Irish Leaving Certificate: 2 subjects at H2 or above, including a science subject
- Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher: accepted in addition to five national 5's
- Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced: B, plus BB at A level
- Cambridge Pre-U Diploma: considered
- Graduate application: welcome, with a minimum of a 2:2 classification
- Access: essential, with 45 credits at Level 3 and 30 credits passed at distinction
English language requirements:
- IELTS: 7.0 overall, with no component below 6.5
- International Baccalaureate English A: Literature or Language & Literature, Grade 6 at Standard Level or grade 6 at Higher Level
- International Baccalaureate English B: Grade 7 at Higher Level
