Introduction to the Law LLB Program

The Law LLB program at the University of Liverpool is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the law and its applications. The program is tailored to meet the needs of students who wish to pursue a career in law, as well as those who are interested in the subject for its own sake.

Program Structure

The Law LLB program is a three-year full-time course that consists of a combination of compulsory and optional modules. The program is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of the law, as well as the opportunity to specialize in specific areas of interest.

Teaching and Assessment

The program is taught through a combination of large group lectures and small class sessions, such as tutorials, seminars, or workshops. Formal lectures are intended to give students a sound understanding of relevant legal topics, and students are expected to enhance their knowledge through private study and research. Tutorials and seminars require active student participation and are particularly effective in assisting students in applying the law to practical situations.

Assessment Methods

Assessment takes many forms, each appropriate to the learning outcomes of the module in question. Degrees are classified on the basis of 240 credits, taken across the final two years in each program. Year two contributes 30% to the overall classification, and the final year contributes 70% to the overall classification.

• UK fees: £9,790 per year (full-time)
• International fees: £27,000 per year (full-time)
• Year in industry fee: £1,955
• Year abroad fee: £1,465 (applies to year in China)

English Language Requirements

The English language requirements for the Law LLB program are as follows:

• IELTS: 6.5 overall, with no component below 5.5
• TOEFL iBT: 88 overall, with minimum scores of listening 17, writing 17, reading 17, and speaking 19
• Duolingo English Test: 125 overall, with speaking, reading, and writing not less than 105, and listening not below 100
• Pearson PTE Academic: 61 overall, with no component below 59
• LanguageCert Academic: 70 overall, with no skill below 60
• Cambridge IGCSE First Language English 0500: Grade C overall, with a minimum of grade 2 in speaking and listening

If your qualification is not listed, or you are taking a combination of qualifications, please contact the University for advice. The University also offers a range of alternative entry routes, including the Go Higher diploma, which qualifies students to apply for University of Liverpool arts, humanities, and social sciences programs.
