Clinical Computed Tomography (DRAD 556)
This module is designed to provide learners with the skills, core knowledge, and understanding required for safe supervised practice in Computed Tomography (CT) examinations.
Module Delivery
The module is delivered part-time, over one semester, in semester two.

Target Audience
This module is aimed at newly qualified radiographers or radiographers new to CT scanning, providing them with the knowledge, skills, and attitude to develop their competence in CT and become a valuable member of the CT service team.
Module Details and Indicative Content
Learners will:
- Operate CT equipment competently and safely, complying with radiation protection, safety, and legislation.
- Critically analyze CT physics, scanning parameters, image acquisition, and scanner hardware to ensure optimal image quality.
- Evaluate CT images to differentiate between normal and abnormal anatomy and pathological appearances.
- Perform effective, compassionate care in a non-discriminatory, culturally sensitive manner, recognizing differences in patient needs during CT examinations.
- Evaluate CT workflows and their importance to the healthcare system.
Assessment
There are three summative assessments:
- A clinical mentor assessment
- A 2-hour MCQ/short answer exam
- A 3000-word case study
