Introduction to University Programs

Workshop Programs

The university offers two workshop programs:


Workshop 1 – Objectives

This workshop provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the world of puppets, from conception to construction. The program includes:


Week 1 – History of the Puppets, Preliminary Sketches and Paper Mache

  • Introduction to the world of animated figures
  • Preparation of a preliminary graphic design of the puppet
  • Working with paper mache to make the positive of the puppet's face

Week 2 – Structure

  • Making and assembly of the wood structure of the puppet

Week 3 – Costume and Armor

  • Making the puppet's costume
  • Cutting, embossing, and soldering of metal parts comprising the armor
  • Assembly of all parts of the puppet

Workshop 2 – Objectives

This workshop allows students to create their own personal reinterpretation of Sicilian puppets. The program includes:


5-day workshop

  • Introduction to the world of animated figures
  • Preparation of a preliminary graphic design of the puppet
  • Cutting, embossing, and soldering of metal parts comprising the armor
  • Making the puppet's costume
  • Assembly of all parts of the puppet
