Program Overview
Public Safety Career Academy
The Public Safety Career Academy offers students an overview of current and emerging career opportunities in public safety. Topics include the roles and functions of police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and other public safety career professionals. The academy provides hands-on instructional experience where students will perform basic public safety services. The course is instructed by public safety professionals and explores the preparation, education, training, and testing required of applicants for these careers.

Admission and Registration
To participate in the Public Safety Career Academy, students must follow these steps:
- Apply to Diablo Valley College for Summer
- Create a CCCOpen account and then continue on to the DVC application
- Receive DVC student ID# (7-digits without letters) via email from InSite
- Receive InSite and Canvas username and password via email from InSite
- Submit Special Admissions Recommendation Form
- Only for students not graduating this spring or earlier
- Ensure knowledge of the course number and section number for enrollment
- Must be signed by student, parent, and high school counselor
- Register in DVC course through the InSite Portal
